The Way East is a four-piece original rock band from St. John's, NL Canada.
Formed in summer 2022, the band has steadily refined and strengthened both its sound and live performances. Blending elements of alternative rock, indie pop, and modern rock, the group delivers energetic songs built around strong hooks, nostalgic textures, and anthem-driven choruses reminiscent of 1990s Canadian alternative rock.
Following their first successful grant through MusicNL, the band began working with Award-Winning Recording Engineer & Producer Krisjan Leslie on their debut album.
Since forming, The Way East have opened for international touring acts including Artcell and Warfaze, as well as Canadian artist K-OS.
Their second single “Closer" and third single “SPARK” both reached #1 on East Coast Top 30, (Hall of Fame), and further established the band’s growing audience.
While rooted in rock, the band continues to develop a sound that is distinct and recognizable, shaped by each member’s musical background and strong connection to Newfoundland and Labrador’s local music community.
The band remains focused on growing beyond the province and expanding further into the Canadian music scene.
